Filling Your Basic Kneads

(a spotlight on Masada Bakery)

Let’s face it…we wouldn’t be nearly as successful if the people who make our food didn’t care about quality and nutrition as much as we did. It’s true. We can’t make everything ourselves, so it’s nice to know that kindred spirits are out there in every facet of our business to help us carry the message that real food is best for everyone.

Masada Bakery, located in Decatur, GA, is one such company. Masada Bakery is an old-world bakery with a simple message. “We’ve always known that ordinary breads are made with a list of ingredients; extraordinary breads are made with patience, passion and history.” When was the last time you heard a baker say that?

So how did we get so lucky as to have them work with us? Well, Neil Ulman, President of Masada Bakery explains: “They as a company are inspiring. Each year they have a meeting of all the vendors. When I go to this I come home very motivated. Joe is a moving, motivating speaker. They are all terrific.” And we feel the same way.

Masada Bakery has gone out if its way to work with us. When we chose to cut out trans-fat from all our products, Masada quickly jumped in with trans-fat free breads. When we chose to go with organic breads, Masada Bakery went out and became certified organic. “We did it because we want to work with them,” says Neil. “By them expanding the way they do, we too are expanding. Their expansion is smart and profitable and it makes it profitable and smart for us.”
